The web-enabled features of the VAluepro, suite ofsolutions include:It should be noted that unlike typical web-centric solutions, the features listed abovedo not use web-browser as the user-interface by default (though a user is not stopped fromusing it). Information from the web are combined with the same front-end the userotherwise uses for carrying out various other functions. Purchase Order Placement This feature involved either VAlueShoppro or VAlueWarepro at the ordering side and VAlueWarepro or VAlueCenterpro at the servicing side. The suite can be set up for any of thefollowing situations:  | Retail outlets to order from Distribution points or HO Central Warehouse |  | Distribution points to order from a HO Central Warehouse | Thus while Retail Outlet or Distribution point can be the buyers the Distribution point(while servicing Retail outlets) or HO Central Warehouse can play the role of vendors.Web-enabled purchase order process is as follows:  | Information on merchandise offered and the availability of merchandise are retrieved from web-based database hosted by the vendor and shown to the buyer for ordering |  | Purchase orders placed are immediately updated in the web-based database. |  | The buyer gets a confirmation on the order placed and vendor receives the order via Email or any other triggering mechanism that can be configured |  | Status of orders placed updated by the vendor are available on-line from the web-based database to the buyers | Due to the fact that the web-interface is seamlessly integrated, the Purchase Orderplacement exercise can be carried out as an extension of the Merchandise planning andprocurement functions. In addition to the built-in purchase order generation moduleoffered with VAlueShoppro and VAlueWarepro the web-enabled purchase ordering process comprises of thefollowing components:  | Client-side web-interface layer for Purchase order placement: This layer will use TCP/IP services available on the client-system and open http communication with a server side component (explained below). A predefined protocol to communicate the details of merchandise and purchase order is used to communicate with the server. |  | Server-side web-component for Order Processing: This component communicates with the client-side component using http. The following request from the client are serviced: |  |  | Merchandise offered and availability details (with additional filtering info) |  | Completed Purchase order |  | Order Status | | Sales Order Booking This feature mirrors the Purchase order placement featureoutlined above. Using the web-enabling of Sales Order booking, it is feasible to capturepurchase orders from a retail outlet into a distribution center (as sales orders). Thisfeature in-addition to offering a VAluepro front-endfor the ordering party, will also have a Browser front-end so that orders can be capturedfrom non-users of VAluepro also. The feature allows:  | Hosting of details of merchandise offered on the web along with their up-to-date availability |  | Capturing of orders either through a browser-front-end or components that work seamlessly with VAlueShoppro or VAlueWareprorooms Strasbourg used by the ordering party |  | Transfer of orders captured at the web to VAlueWarepro or VAlueCenterpro and updating of status of orders back to the web | The various components this feature comprises of are:  | Client-based Web-interface component for uploading data to web: This component uploads the various details from a VAluepro product to the web-site |  | Server-based Order Capture component that interfaces with any VAluepro product(explained earlier under Purchase Order Placement) |  | Browser-front-end for Order Booking |  | Client-based Web-interface component for data download from web: This component downloads orders captured and stored in the database on the web | Goods Dispatch EDI To eliminate time consuming data entry and prevent dataentry errors, details of Goods dispatched from a Distribution point are transferred to thereceiving end (which can be another Distribution point or a Retail outlet) on a predefinedformat . Two options are available for the mode of transfer. The first is using Emailwherein the dispatcher sends and email with the details as an email attachment to thereceiver. The latter feature employs FTP protocol of the internet to allow:  | Any Distribution point using VAlueWarepro to host the details of dispatches carried out on an FTP server |  | Any outlet using VAlueShopprodiscount hotels in Portimaro or a Distribution point using VAlueWarepro to automatically retrieve the details using FTP protocol | Information feed-back to HO This feature also uses FTP protocol. using VAlueShoppro andusing VAlueWarepro havebuilt-in module that create user-defined flat files based on the stock and transactiondata available in their database. This feature allows such files to be posted on FTP sitesautomatically. In the case of outlets using merchandise from multiple vendors, multiplesets of files (each for a different vendor) can be created and transferred to differentFTP sites each designated by a vendor. This data transfer to can be sent via Emailalternatively. The necessary Email interfaces for creating Email messages with the flatfiles as attachment are included in the using VAluepro products.
