| 1 Aug 2001 Madura Garments, a division of Indian Rayon and Industries Ltd., a AdityaBirla group company is the No.1 apparel company in India. Besides its formidablesize and presence in the Indian apparel industry, Madura Garments has alwaysremained a forerunner in implementing advanced information systems in its retailand distribution operations. The organization currently operates with many factories and warehouseslocated in and around Bangalore, minor distribution centers and over 100 retailoutlets across the length and breadth of Indian sub-continent. Subsequent to the management's decision to move on to an ERP for itscentralized operations, SAP R3 AFS meant for Apparel and Footwear Segment waschosen as having the best fit. The order for supply and implementation wasplaced by MG to SAL Labs. The project of implementing the solution in theorganization has been named MG Saffire, symbolizing the never-ending firefor improvement in the belly of the organization. The project is first of itskind and size in Asia. Price Waterhouse Coopers were appointed to steer thecustomization and implementation efforts overseen directly by SAP Labs. VedhaAutomations will handle the conversion and customization activities. ERROR MSGThe project on its completion will ensure a smoothly running SAP R3 AFS fullyintegrated with all the locations of MG operations. It must be noted that MaduraGarment has been on of the early users of solutions from Vedha Automations andthese solutions will be interfaced with SAP R3 AFS to ensure a seamlessintegration of information systems.
